OUR APPROACH
Skills for Nuba Mountains utilizes a people-centred approach to address the inter-connected problems of displacement, refugee influx and outflow, declining food production, malnutrition, ill-health and environmental degradation as well as poor access to social services (education, health, etc.) and poor infrastructure in underserved conflict areas. SNM is committed to reversing the ‘downward spiral’ of poverty and conflict into an ‘upward spiral’ of holistic and inclusive development.

Skills for Nuba Mountains (SNM) is a Non-Governmental Organization established in 2014. It is officially registered and mandated to operate in Sudan, South Sudan and Kenya. SNM works in partnership and collaboration with local, national, regional and International organizations in order to provide the vitally needed humanitarian and development services.

SNM Financial Capacity.
The organization has adequate staff in the finance department to ensure that sufficient controls are in place to manage agency funds. These staffs are Finance officer, Assistant Finance officer and cashier. The organization has an accounting system that allows for proper recording of financial transactions (Quick books and Excel). Payments are authorized at an appropriate level. Accounting and supportive documents are retained in an organised system that allows authorized users easy access. Budgets are prepared with sufficient details to provide a meaningful tool for monitoring subsequent performance. The functions for ordering, receiving, accounting for, paying for goods and services are appropriately segregated.

The organization has a total of 39 staffs as follows; 25 Male and 14 females. The distribution is as follows; In targeted location i.e., South Kordofan area, Nuba Mountains Sudan there are 34 staff while 3 staff are in South Sudan and 2 staff are in Kenya. Please also see the attached organogram.
Lazim Suleiman Bash
Director
with a Master’s degree in international project management from the Glasgow Caledonians University in the UK preceded with a degree in education and diploma in agriculture/ food security and has wide experience overseeing programs in virtually all sectors in many countries. The Executive Director ensures that projects produce the specified results to the required standard of quality and within the specified period of funding. He conducts monthly reviews to ensure accountability of the project activities as well as the accurate and timely reporting of financial deliverables and obligations. Based in the Nuba Mountains
Mrs Vera Etole
Program Manager
has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi and has worked as Program Manager in various organizations in South Sudan for several years managing projects of diverse sectors. She has also worked in the past in Kenya, in the docket of finance, micro finance, marketing, human resource management and as development coordinator. The program Manager plays a lead role in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing out of the project. She manages the team responsible for implementing projects and achieving its deliverables and ensures that appropriate and timely reports are submitted and is accountable for the entire project scope. Moses Muturi
The Finance Officer
has a Bachelor of Commerce degree finance option from Egerton University of Kenya and has also worked in South Sudan as Finance Officer for several years before joining the SNM team. The Finance officer and his assistant oversee the income and expenses ensuring that budget lines are adhered to and that financial reports are submitted promptly. Field based in the Nuba Mountains
Omar Hassan
Human resource/Administration Manager
Has a degree in education from Juba University in South Sudan. The HR manager acts as a point of contact for all the employees, provides administrative support and manages employee queries. Field based in the Nuba Mountains
